Action Groups Update - December 2024
Transport and Active Travel Action Group
Cargo bike being used by a few but needs advertising by Town Council (TC) to promote further.
Improved cycling infrastructure: NCC have drafted 3 options for improving the route from station to leisure centre and this will be out for public consultation in late 2025 hopefully.
There is a new bus ambassador at NCC and a meeting has been arranged with her and TC Operations Manager together with GB Active Transport Group for 11/12/24.
Tweed Estuary Pollution Action Group
Algae monitoring continues. On 13/12 there will be a TEAMS meeting led by Environment Agency on the possibility of also doing nitrate monitoring. Jane P will attend, and Barbara J wants the link, too.
Growing Communities Action Group
Extension of funding has been agreed to end of March, and range of items money can be spent on widened.
Warm Homes Action Group
The warmer homes stall at the Repair Café will continue but other warmer homes activity will be slowed until a new GB Coordinator is found.
Zero Waste Hub Action Group
Last Repair Café had 22 visitors, and 29 items brought for repair. A feedback survey was mentioned to generate useful info for future funding bids. There is an issue with insurance for knife sharpening.
